Blowing A After In A Lifetime Likelihood (2018 Primary Function Globe Collection of Poker)

This might be just one of the craziest fingers ever to go down so late in such a prestigious poker event. This hand from the 2018 WSOP results in tens of millions of chips coming into the pot from 3 unique gamers, and only just one of them acquiring a first rate hand. With almost nine million pounds up major, and a $forty,000 payjump following just one more elimination, this is the greatest of substantial stakes poker. What the heck is going on below?

This at first aired on PokerGo. You can enjoy more 2018 WSOP Primary Function protection there:

Poker Arms is the display exactly where Doug analyzes reside poker fingers from tv poker shows such as Poker Right after Dark, EPT (European Poker Tour), Significant Stakes Poker, the Globe Collection of Poker (WSOP), the Aussie Millions, WPT (Globe Poker Tour) the Massive A person For A person Drop, and the PCA (Pokerstars Carribean Experience). He particularly enjoys reviewing fingers by popular substantial stakes professionals like Viktor “Isildur” Blom, Fedor Holz, Dan Cates (Jungleman), Tom “Durrrr” Dwan, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, and Daniel Negreanu.

  1. Have you thought about calling it world's series of polker hands?

  2. what doug forgets to mention is that earlier that day
phan was incredibly gifted wth luck or chance since he value bet the river with the losing hand and the other guy folded the winning hand (trips )
and after finding out phan was in shock … instead of being at 6 million he reached like 11 million
so i guess he was encouraged to take the aggressive tone since he had a good experience with it recently

i agree the move was completely unnecessary but again i think you should show that hand where he wins with AQ on a value bet vs the trips k which happen recently before so we can get the true full picture

  3. I think trying to get it in in a 4-way pot isn't terrible.
The value of being a November Niner (and much more the WSOP ME winner) is much higher than the pure prize pool money, so trying to get lucky, build a good stack here and try to win it all might even be +EV.
I think the much more idiotic thing he did was calling the clock. That is just stupid.

  6. Mr Polk, great analysis as always, but did he consider scenario number 3 which is 3 better jams and 4 better calls?

  10. I was watching this guy for a while, and he just looked done. Like someone told him a family member was dying. I don’t know, he really looked like he was intentionally punting it. I’m probably crazy. But I don’t know

  21. Souza calling the clock was smart, why is everyone saying otherwise? It's so unlikely someone else would bust in that 4 minutes of tanking time, even if they do it's very short sighted thinking anyway. The smart play in that case would have been to fold 98o and wait for the pay jump without risk..

Once he's in the hand though, it's really smart to call the clock. The time pressure might get an overly cautious fold from Gerrits, who at this stage could be playing a little scared of the bigger stack in Phan. Souza needs the hand to go heads up, it's even more of a disaster if it goes 3 ways. If you were going to pick a range to go against, it would always be the button 4-bet. The potential pot size is totally irrelevant because Gerrits 3-bet was only 200k less than Souza's stack.

  22. Would you not advocate calling with 98off even some of the time to balance your calling range in those spots?

  23. What’s more ridiculous than the call with 89off is the fact that he called the clock when there is a 40k pay jump.

  24. Going all-in with 8 9 off-suit? —- unbelievable under any legitimate situation. Looks like Souza was in a hurry to get rid of his stress by quickly losing all his chips. Poker is a test of mental strength as much as of luck.
