World Series of Poker

Letting it flow w/ 2003 WSOP Main Event Champion Chris Moneymaker

I get the chance to catch up with Mr. Moneymaker himself. Chris is often credited with giving poker the major boom in popularity after winning the 2003 WSOP Main Event. In this year Chris won $2,500,000 taking 1st place in the 839 person field. Chris, an amateur at the time defeated well known poker pro Sam Farha. Being a non professional and winning gave the game of poker an allure to it. Time this with the first year of ESPN televising the event it led to rapid growth in future years for the World Series of Poker. Chris also won his way to this tournament playing online in a satellite for a low buy in amount on Pokerstars. Pokerstars signed Chris Moneymaker and the rest is history. Chris has over $3,700,000 in lifetime live earnings and some great stories about his journey. I hope you enjoy our first of many editions of “letting it flow”.
